Description

Nestled beneath the tors of North Dartmoor, Gooseford Farm offers a charming 16th Century stone farmhouse B&B near Okehampton. This tranquil rural retreat, just five minutes from the A30, provides excellent bed and breakfast accommodations in the picturesque hamlet of Gooseford, with the historic cathedral city of Exeter only twenty minutes away.

The farmhouse is rich in traditional features, featuring exposed beams, inset windows, and a welcoming log fire in the open stone fireplace of the residents' lounge. Guests can enjoy wonderful views over the moor.

Mary, the host, prepares a delightful full English breakfast using farm produce, including her own freshly baked bread, daily fresh milk, home-produced sausages, eggs, and seasonal tomatoes from the greenhouse.

As a working farm on the edge of Dartmoor, Gooseford Farm invites guests to explore the surroundings. Mary encourages visitors to don their wellies and witness the milking process, with afternoon milking starting at 4 pm. A viewing gallery provides a unique opportunity to observe this fascinating procedure, and guests can accompany the cows as they graze in their pasture, gaining insight into the source of their milk. Mary kindly requests guests to remove their outside shoes before heading upstairs to the bedrooms, providing slippers for convenience or inviting guests to bring their own. No offense is intended, as the Courtier Family looks forward to sharing their farm and its unique experiences with you.
